Supervisor Pat Hume holding community meetings on behavioral health services, substance abuse

As local and state officials deal with California's homeless crisis, two of the most often cited causes are mental health services and the shortage of affordable housing.

As part of his effort to address Sacramento County's role in resolving the crisis, Sacramento County District 5 Supervisor Pat Hume is conducting a series of meetings discussing behavioral health services. The second of the three sessions will be held on Monday, November 6, in Elk Grove.

Accompanying Hume in the one-hour meeting will be Dr. Ryan Quist and Tim Lutz, the county's director of behavior health services. Along with mental health services, the session will cover substance abuse, another often-cited cause of homelessness.

Monday's meeting is at Elk Grove City Hall and starts at 6 p.m. Hume, along with Sacramento County Supervisor Rich Desmond, will hold the third meeting at Rancho Cordova City Hall on November 29 at 6 p.m.
