Police arrest 18-year old at Elk Grove's Cosumnes Oak High School basketball game, held on weapons charges

An 18-year old suspect is held at the Sacramento County Jail after being arrested by Elk Grove Police on the evening of Friday, January 19.

According to police reports, during a basketball game at Cosumnes Oaks High, officers received information that a person at the game was armed with a handgun. When the officers approached the 18-year-old male, identified at Dominik Warda, he tried to run away.

With the aid of a K9 unit, he was caught by a police outside the gym, near the football field. Officers recovered a handgun, and there were no injuries to anyone except the suspect, who was bitten by the K9.

Police detained two others, but they were later released. Warda was booked at the Main Jail, where he is being held ineligible for bail on several firearm-related charges, resisting arrest, and an outstanding warrant.

Warda will be arraigned on Tuesday, January 23.
