It’s mind-boggling. It can’t be explained using rational thought. Something is going on in our country that makes it seem as if we’re living in an alternate world! The 2024 election season began this week with the Iowa Republican caucus, and Donald Trump won 51% of the votes.
This is the same Donald Trump who has always been and continues to be devoid of patriotism, love of country and the U.S. Constitution, integrity, veracity, respect for others, and human decency.

Given that American democracy has been in a downward drift for the last 20 years or so - recall the Patriot Act - there is a two-word answer to Dan's question of what the hell is going wrong. Those two words are social media. Those platforms amplify and reinforce lies and misinformation.
