As 5 day heat wave approaches, Elk Grove to operate cooling center starting on Monday

Starting this Monday, the Sacramento region will experience a five-day heat wave with 100+ temperatures. Not only will daytime highs be in triple digits, but the nighttime lows are only expected to drop to the upper 60s.

In response to the heat wave, Elk Grove will operate a cooling center Monday through Friday from noon to 8 p.m. at the Cosumnes Community Service District's Wackford Center on Bruceville Road. The days of operation may extend to next weekend, depending on the weather forecast.

There will be a limited number of spaces for individuals with pets.
