Final workshop on proposed Old Town Elk Grove senior affordable project being held tonight

UPDATED 8:30 p.m. |

The third and final workshop for public input on an affordable senior housing project will be held this evening.

The meeting starts at 5:30 this afternoon at the Elk Grove Public Library. The workshop will focus on the project on Elk Grove Boulevard in the city's Old Town-Historic Downtown tourist area.

Elk Grove has selected Mutual Housing California to develop the apartment complex. The facility is proposed as a three-story, 89-unit structure.

The apartment complex is proposed for the corner of Webb Street and Elk Grove Boulevard. The site plan is shown above in the graphic.

Some Old Town business owners and advocates have expressed concern at two previous workshops over issues like traffic and the height of the apartment complex. Many people expressing these concerns also objected to the Oak Rose supportive housing project, which Mayor Bobbie  Singh-Allen rejected in July 2022.

UPDATED - The structure was reported as being four stories but is actually three stories. Updated to reflect that correction/
