Going into November reelection campaign, Elk Grove District 3 City Council member has limited fundraising

With the final day of voting in about three months and the filing date for challengers less than a week away, Elk Grove District 3 Councilmember could be unopposed as he seeks his second four-year term.

Kevin Spease's campaign finance statement filed last week could be considered a reflection of that situation. His California Form 460, filed with the Elk Grove City Clerk, shows Spease raised $2,000 for the six months ending June 30.

Spease received two donations from Mr. Jerry Braxmeyer, totaling $2,000. Braxmeyer has contributed $3,000 to the reelection effort for Spease's current election cycle.

Braxmeyer has dabbled in Elk Grove politics in the past. He ran for mayor in 2012 and the Cosumnes Community Services District Board of Directors in 2018.

Spease enters his campaign reelection with $21,211 - a relatively modest cash balance compared to his city council colleagues.
