Video released by Elk Grove Police displays effectiveness of surveillance cameras

Yesterday, the Elk Grove Police Department released a video demonstrating the effectiveness of surveillance cameras from their real-time information operation.

After receiving a call on Monday, September 30, about real-time vandalism of vehicles at the Bartholomew Sports Park, police monitors were able to track the vehicle and suspect described by the caller. The cameras tracked the suspect's vehicle to a gas station on Kammerer Road near Highway 99.

Shortly after that, patrol vehicles stopped the suspect's vehicle. Police arrested 18-year-old Clara Covin on suspicion of burglary and possession of burglary tools.

The video below displays camera images of the vehicle traveling through Elk Grove.

Undoubtedly they are effective at responding to crime. At what point, however, does Mayor Singh-Allen or say City Council Member Rod Brewer lean on the police chief, who is their employee, to use these devices against their political foes?

Don't think it can't happen because if there is one thing politicians love, it's squeezing their perceived enemies. The only difference between Bobbie Singh-Allen and Richard Nixon is the level of their respective offices.
