With a 23 percent lead, Ballerini projected to win EGUSD Area 6 Trustee seat

Jennifer Ballerini will fill the EGUSD Area 6 Trustee seat, which is being vacated by Nancy Chaires-Espoinoza. | 

Vote totals released this afternoon by Sacramento County Voter Registrations and Election showed Jennifer Ballerini maintaining her substantial lead over Jacqueline Ortiz for the Elk Grove Unified School District Trustee Area 6 seat.

With 35 percent of ballots processed countywide, Ballerini has 4,908 votes, or 61 percent. Ortiz has 3,114 votes, or 38 percent. The candidates' percentage of votes is unchanged from last night. 

Although nonpartisan, Ballerini is supported by the Democratic Party and the Elk Grove Education Association. Ortiz was endorsed by the Republican Party and had support from charter school advocates like former Elk Grove Mayor Gary Davis. 

According to information from Political Data Inc., Area 6 has 15,077 Democratic registrations compared to 6,331 for Republicans. There are 9,533 independent voters. 

PDI estimates that as of the report they compiled today, about 13,089 ballots were returned. Based on the ballot returns and Democratic registration advantage, Ballerini is the projected winner of the EGUSD Area 6 seat.
