I recall Council member Detrick saying he'd only vote to approve the aquatics center is it penciled out as at least cost neutral, meaning it was okay not to be a money maker as long as it wouldn't show negative venue. He eventually approved it along with all of the other councilmembers with no such showing. Then there was the Oak Rose fiasco, spearheaded by this current council costing the city over $10M and making the city a laughing stock of every other municipality in the state. Then the Low & Slow debacle which may cost the city a half million $ to the detriment of taxpayers and a slap in the face to every other mom & pop business in our town who didn't receive any consideration for their investments. Now we have the zoo and the $50M that the zoological society has promised, their funding: $0.25 at a time for frosties sold at Wendy's on one day.
The head of their committee just bailed, certainly knowing they will fall deeply short of their commitment, leaving taxpayers again to pick up the difference. This is no way to run a business or a city. We are headed for bankruptcy thanks to the current leadership at city hall. What a bunch of rubes, and the citizens? Total apathy and indifference.
