AOC, Sanders bringing Fighting Oligarchy Tour roadshow to Auburn

Since Donald Trump took his oath of office on January 20 for his second term, the Democratic Party has been flat-footed in its response to his sweeping and controversial changes until the last few weeks, with one notable exception. That exception has been the vocal response from U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I - Vt.) and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D - NY).

In late February, Sanders launched the movement Fighting Oligarchy Tour in Michigan. The tour has taken the duo to many conservative areas and drawn large audiences.

In keeping with its intention of holding rallies in conservative-leaning areas, the FOT will have two gatherings in California congressional districts with Republican members of Congress on Tuesday, April 15, in Auburn and Bakersfield.

Auburn is part of California's Third Congressional District and is represented by Kevin Kiley. Bakersfield is in the 20th and 22nd districts and is represented by Republicans Vince Fong and David Valadao.

The FOT rallies have drawn intense crowds, and, not surprisingly, Trump supporters like Elon Musk have incorrectly claimed the audience are paid participants.

The Auburn rally will be held at Gold Country Fairgrounds and Event Center, 209 Fairgate Road. Doors will open at 3:30 p.m., and the events will start at 6 p.m. the Bakersfield rally will be held at Dignity Health Arena, Theater, and Convention Center, 1001 Truxtun Ave., with doors opening at 10:30 a.m. and a 1 p.m. start time.

Talk about a party adrift! Right-wing Trump trounces left-wing Kamala and her wacky sidekick Walz, so what does the Democratic Party do for a reset? Go further left with Bernie and AOC! Really?

This misguided effort reminds me of the 1964 NFL game between the Niners and the Vikings--Viking's defensive end Jim Marshall recovered a Niner fumble and ran the wrong into his own end zone giving the Niners a 2-point safety. At least Newsom is temporarily shedding his wolf's clothing and trying to look and sound more like a centrist sheep as he gears up for the 2028 election.

Maybe the Democratic Party ought to run an ad on Linkedin or Glassdoor to recruit a new leader, because right now all they have is a trail of once proud  but now shamed Tesla owners looking to ditch their cars and wait for Trump's tax cuts which they will grab with gusto.

At least those two are attempting to "fight to oligarchy." I don't see many others fighting that fight. They are trying to save the Republic, the Constitution, and middle class. The Dems better get their program restarted bc we 'll need all the help we can get once Trump leaves office, if he ever does. Our government is currently in a tailspin and I see Bernie and AOC as fighting to save the Republic. Others, not so much.
