Gov. Newsom makes appointment to Sacramento County Superior Court



Governor Gavin Newsom announced the appointment of Martin Tejeda to the Sacramento County Superior Court on May 7, 2025. Tejeda, a resident of Yolo County, has served as a Commissioner at the Sacramento County Superior Court since 2023. 

Prior to that, he was a Sole Practitioner at the Law Offices of Martin Tejeda from 2005 to 2023. His earlier legal experience includes roles as an Associate at Kring and Chung (2004–2005), a Deputy Public Defender at the Sacramento Public Defender’s Office (2001–2004), and an attorney at the Law Office of James Kuppenbender (2000–2001). 

Mr. Tejeda earned his Juris Doctor degree from McGeorge School of Law. He fills the vacancy created by the appointment of Judge Dena Coggins to the federal bench. Tejeda is registered as a Democrat.
