As far as tariffs go, I guess it's about one's perspective of fair trade and our nation's short-term pain for long term gain. If it is acceptable for other nations to enact trade barriers against our export products and we do not retaliate so that we may swap their cheap imported products for our own domestic products or level the playing field--then Trump is a bum. If we care about our future generations and what type of jobs will be available to them, and are willing to pay higher prices to support U.S. workers--then Trump is a transformational president.

As far as the Elk Grove sales tax increase goes, if the consumption tax on lower income persons is unfair and fails to hold City Hall accountable to create an efficient and lean delivery of services, then the Mayor and her enablers are elitists and believe a bigger government is better. If we believe the consumption tax is an ideal way to shore up declining revenues and reward City Hall (and CSD to a lesser extent) for not balancing expenses with revenues, then the Mayor and her support team are municipal wizards.

I have to stop writing--I am getting nauseous.
