Elk Grove Police Department Announces New Assistant Chief
Elk Grove Police Department Chief Bobby Davis has promoted longtime department veteran Capt. Brian Schopf to Assistant Chief of Police, effective mid-July. Schopf will succeed Assistant Chief Paul Solomon, who is retiring after a decades-long career.
A founding member of the Elk Grove Police Department, Schopf brings more than 30 years of law enforcement experience. Since the city launched its own agency, he has advanced from K-9 officer to sergeant, lieutenant, captain, and now the department’s No. 2 post.
“It’s a tremendous honor to continue serving Elk Grove in this new capacity,” Schopf said. “I’m proud to work with such a talented team in a community that consistently supports its police department.”
Chief Davis called Schopf “a leader who embodies integrity and service,” citing his deep knowledge of the agency’s mission and unwavering dedication to public safety. “Brian’s experience and passion make him the right choice to help steer the department forward,” Davis said.
The department also thanked Assistant Chief Solomon for his leadership and lasting contributions, noting that his guidance helped shape the agency in its formative years.
With Schopf assuming the role next month, Chief Davis said the department is well-positioned to meet future challenges while maintaining strong ties with the community it serves.
