The Dog Days of summer are upon us.

Every summer comes a time when the heat and length of the summer lays siege on a community where nothing really noteworthy happens. This seems to be the week of the year where the heat, which has really been tolerable this year, generates a sense of malaise the permeates everybody from politicians on down to street criminal.

On the plus side, aside from the normal DUI arrests by Elk Grove cops, there haven't been any noteworthy crimes worth reporting. That of course is a good thing.

Things coming out of city hall have been pretty quite too. Aside from the dumping of Elk Grove City Attorney Susan Cochran several weeks ago, thing have been pretty quite. In fact, the Elk Grove City Council's summer has been functioning very well compared to last years failed leadership of Sophia Scherman. What a difference a year makes.

Oh sure, the have been moments of excitement like last weeks hecklers at Dan Lungren's townhall meeting, but really not to much is happening in our happy little burg.

Enjoy the respite - if we know Elk Grove well enough things won't stay this sedate for too long.
