A man was in taken to an area hospital after being accidentally shot in face this morning in Elk Grove.
According to Elk Grove Police spokesperson Officer Christopher Trim, two brothers were preparing a pig for slaughter on their property with a .22 cal rifle. As the brother fired the rifle into the head on the pig, the pig bucked causing the rifle to go backwards.
As the rifle went backwards, the rifle went off again and a round struck the younger brother (27 or 28) in the face. The younger brother was shot in the face and later transported to a local area hospital in critical condition.
The were numerous family members present who confirmed the events. "This was an unfortunate accident," noted Trim.
