Elk Grove Police Arrests Felon Allegedly Possessing Weed, Loaded Assault Rifle

A Sacramento man was arrested late Sunday afternoon after he was contacted by Elk Grove Police while sitting in his car.

When police officers approached 24-year old Ropate Ratucadra Boginisoko (pictured above) near Geneva Pointe Drive and East Stockton Boulevard, they reportedly smelled the strong odor of marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle. After detaining Boginisoko and a passenger, a vehicle search led to the discovery of a loaded assault rifle, two loaded magazines, and marijuana.

Boginisoko was arrested and booked into the county jail where he is being held on $80,000 bail. He is being charged with two misdemeanors and six felonies including felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition and possession of an assault rifle. Arraignment is set for Tuesday afternoon.
