Elk Grove's Western Festival This Weekend, Traffic Advisory Issued For Parade

The 59th annual Western Festival kicks-off this Friday night in Elk Grove.

Starting with Friday night's notorious "Suicide Night" amusement park opening, the three day festival held at Elk Grove Regional Park includes entertainment, food booths and barbecue competitions. The centerpiece of the festival takes place on Saturday morning with the parade.

As a result of numerous road closures to accommodate the parade, Elk Grove Police have issued a traffic advisory.    

Road closures in east Elk Grove will be in effect Saturday morning on various residential streets for parade staging beginning at 7 a.m. Roads used for the parade route will be closed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Closures along Emerald Oak Drive between Elk Grove Boulevard and Valley Oak Lane will be in effect from 7 a.m. to approximately 10:30 am for parade staging. Residents will be allowed to drive through only. Streets used for parade staging will include:

• Santa Ridge Circle
• Sapphire Court
• Gemstone Court
• Elk Ridge Way
• Jadestone Court
• O’Connell Court
• Rubystone Court
• Cabra Court
• Aquarius Avenue
• Lodestone Court
• Leo Virgo Court
• Kilkenny Court

Below are the closures and alternative routes that will be in effect for the parade from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.: 

• Eastbound (E/B) and Westbound (W/B) Elk Grove Boulevard will be closed from Emerald Oak Drive to Elk Grove Florin Road.
• Traffic on E/B Elk Grove Boulevard approaching E. Stockton Boulevard will detour to N/B Emerald Vista Drive, to N/B E. Stockton Boulevard, to E/B Bond Road
• W/B Elk Grove Boulevard approaching Elk Grove Florin Road will detour to N/B Elk Grove Florin Road.
• Traffic on S/B Williamson Drive Approaching Elk Grove Boulevard will detour to W/B Elk Grove Boulevard.
• Northbound (N/B) and Southbound (S/B) on Elk Grove Florin Road will be closed from Valley Oak Drive to Elk Grove Boulevard.
• S/B Elk Grove Florin Road approaching Elk Grove Boulevard will detour to E/B Elk Grove Boulevard.N/B Elk Grove Florin Road approaching Valley Oak Lane will detour to S/B Elk Grove Florin Road.
• All streets on Valley Oak Drive between Vista Grande and Elk Grove Florin Road will be closed with cones.
• E/B Valley Oak Drive approaching Vista Grande will detour to W/B Valley Oak.
