Elk Grove Blvd. in Old Town Elk Grove To Be Closed For Four Days

May 14, 2016 |

A portion of Elk Grove Boulevard in Old Town Elk Grove will be closed to traffic for four days starting this Monday through Thursday, May 19. The closure is necessitated because of major repairs to the Union Pacific railroad crossing in Old Town.

This closure will affect all eastbound and westbound through traffic on Elk Grove Boulevard travelling between Elk Grove-Florin Road and Waterman Road including emergency and pedestrian traffic. A full 24-hour closure will be in place between First Avenue and School Street over the four day period. Access for all property owners and businesses will be maintained.

Increased Travel Times & Detours: Through traffic is advised to avoid this area during the closure period. Roadway users are advised to use alternative routes until project work is completed (see detour map). Detour signs and electronic message boards will be in place to alert motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists about the temporary closure.

Repair work is also anticipated for Bond Road and Elk Grove-Florin Rd crossings in June 2016, however, exact dates are not yet available.

Re-opening: This stretch of Elk Grove Boulevard is expected to re-open on Friday, May 20. The closure is not expected to affect preparations for the Old Town Elk Grove Chili Festival scheduled on Saturday, May 21 at the Old Town Plaza.

Darn it, and I was planning on having my nails done, my hair done, maybe get my palm read, and catch a food truck.
