Video - Elk Grove Women's Amgen Tour Stop Presser; Incumbency Has Its Advantages!

November 2, 2016 |

If today's announcement at the Elk Grove Regional Park regarding the City of Elk Grove being named a stop on the 2017 Women's Amgen Tour of California underscored anything, incumbency has its advantages.

Present at the announcement of the City's selection as a stop on the women's tour were six elected officials from the Elk Grove City Council and Cosumnes Community Services District. Not surprisingly, five of those elected officials on hand are running for office.

The incumbents present for the announcement included Cosumnes Community Services District Directors Gil Albiani and Michelle Orrock and Elk Grove City Councilmen Steve Detrick, Steve Ly, and Darren Suen. The only elected official not on next Tuesday's ballot was CCSD Director Rod Brewer.

For good measure, the press conference was scheduled just as voters are filling out their absentee ballots or preparing to vote next week. And to give some free publicity to his candidate in the race for mayor, outgoing Elk Grove Mayor Gary Davis was conveniently absent. Thus the "duty" of making the announcement fell to his chosen successor, current Vice Mayor, Steve Ly.

Yes, indeed, incumbency has its advantages!

More information about next May's tour stop can be viewed here. The video of the press conference is posted below.
