Ride Sharing Driver Alerts Police, Three Arrested on Suspicion of Prostitution, Pandering at Elk Grove Hotel

An ride sharing driver's alertness led to the arrest of three suspects on Monday, December 26 on prostitution and pandering charges in Elk Grove. 

The incident started when an Uber driver took the 16-year old victim and two of the female suspects to the Holiday Inn Express hotel on West Stockton and Laguna boulevards and notified Elk Grove Police of suspicion activity. When responding officers arrived at the hotel, they detained Destiny Pettway (below right), 25, and Maria Westley, 31 (below left), both of Sacramento.

The 16-year old victim was already in a hotel room with the third suspect with 20-year old Disney Vang (pictured above). Officers determined that Pettway and Westley had been actively pimping and pandering the juvenile girl and had arranged to meet Vang at the hotel and that he had engaged in unlawful sexual activity with the victim.

All three suspects were arrested and booked into the county jail. Vang is ineligible for bail and there is no further booking information available at this time. 

Pettway is being held on a $530,000 bail and faces four felony charges with a December 28 arraignment. Westley is being held on a $510,500 bail and faces four felony and three misdemeanor charges with an December 28 arraignment.   

The victim, who had been reported as a missing person, was transported to an alternative housing location.
