Elk Grove Unified high schools fail to reach upper echelon of regional SAT scores, one near bottom

High schools in the Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD) failed to crack the upper echelons of SAT college entrance examination scores according to information released from the California Department of Education for the 2015-2016 school year.
In a story from the Sacramento Bee's Phillip Reese, of the 83 large high schools in the Sacramento region, EGUSD's Pleasant Grove High was highest at 18th, making it to the 21st-percentile of schools measured. Pleasant Grove's students taking the SAT test scored an average of 1575 out of 2400.
On the other end of the spectrum was Valley High whose rank as 78th put it near the bottom of the the schools in the survey. More than half of the EDUSD's high schools were in the bottom 50th-percentile.
Other EGUSD high schools' ranking out of 83 and SAT average scores are as follows:
- Franklin 28th place; 1553
- Elk Grove 36th place; 1516
- Cosumnes Oaks 38th place; 1508
- Laguna Creek 43rd place; 1492
- Sheldon 50th place; 1460
- Monterrey Trail 63rd place; 1382
- Florin 73rd; 1341
- Valley Hi 78th; 1224

Those SAT scores are meaningless!
I'm following the economic development news at City Hall. My kids are excited that a new Costco, Marriott, circuit board assembly, downtown brew pub, and a casino are coming! My kids are living at ground-zero of big business and don't even realize it. My son is getting a soldering certificate at night school, and my daughter is getting a motel desk clerk internship this summer.
