Elk Grove's IR Academy's U11 Girls Competitive Team Ranked Number One Nationally This Week

In a sign of their growing prominence, Elk Grove-based IR Academy's U11 Girls comp team is currently ranked number one in the nation. This ranking comes from GotSoccer, which tracks youth competitive soccer teams around the nation.

The rankings are based on tournament wins where higher-level the tournaments around the country have a higher point value based upon competition. The IR Academy 07G Purple team, recently won another regional tournament, which pushed the team into the number one spot. Much like college football power ratings, rankings are recalculated and determined each week after tournaments around the country are played.

Currently, IR Academy has 38 competitive youth teams based in Elk Grove and has been been developing youth comp teams in community for several years. Their efforts were bolstered when the club won approval to utilize the Cosumnes Community Service District athletic fields in Elk Grove. 

This occurred last year, when the CCSD reorganized its field allocation process, which now allows IR Academy teams and other youth athletic clubs to practice and play games in Elk Grove on CSD fields and use CSD facilities, like the BSP turf complex. An IR Academy club representative said the club's ability to practice and play games at the BSP complex has helped support the ongoing development of their players and teams in Elk Grove.
