At their annual Holiday get together, the Elk Grove-South County swore in their new officers for 2018.

The new officers taking oath were Bob Ireland, secretary; Nancy Fox; treasurer; Scott Matsumoto, vice president; and Kendra Lewis, president. The new officers took their oath from Democratic Congressman Dr. Ami Bera, who represents the 7th California Congressional District which includes all of Elk Grove and portions of Sacramento County.

Before administering the oath, Bera acknowledged the difficult political situation in Washington DC, but encouraged the 75-plus gathered at the festivities to keep their efforts going.

"We need to rise up our better natures as Americans, and not divide the country," he said. "Thank you for what you are doing in the Elk Grove-South County Democratic Club."

Bera added that "we say this a lot, but I think 2018, and 2020 truly are a defining elections of where we want this country to go, and what we want for our kids and grandkids."

Also addressing the club members was Kendra Lewis whose comment can be viewed in the video below.

Kudos for pushing the "By-District" position. Too bad there are a couple democrats on city council who wear that party tag only when it is convenient for them. Suen and Nguyen, why don't you support Lie and put this issue on the ballot once and for all? Let the people decide, even if it means you get booted off council.

It is the worst kept secret in Elk Grove that Darren Suen will soon be announcing his candidacy for Elk Grove Mayor, trying to oust current Mayor Steve Ly.

With both being Democrats, will Suen change his wishy-washy stance on by-district voting knowing that the CA Democratic Central Committee, along with the local Dem Club, is supporting by-district voting?

And if Suen for one minute thinks he can dismiss the local Dem club, and the words of new President Kendra Lewis, he is not paying attention.
