A retail employee was assaulted by a suspected shoplifter at an Elk Grove business.

Just before 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 5 a store employee at the Petsmart store on Laguna Boulevard attempted to stop two people suspected of shoplifting. In response to the action, the female suspect, described as a African American aged 40 to 50, grabbed the employee by the hair and pulled her to the ground. The same suspect punched the employee twice in the face.

After the assault, the suspects fled with the stolen merchandise. The accomplice was described as an African American in his 30s, 6'1" and thin build.
