Independent expenditure committee launches page on Facebook aimed at Elk Grove Mayor Steve Ly

October 19, 2018 |

A group calling themselves the Alliance to Protect the Middle Class (APMC) has created a Facebook page aimed at Elk Grove Mayor Steve Ly.

The page, which they titled Mayor Steve Lies appears to have been launched on Thursday, October 18. It currently has two postings.

According to information obtained on the California Secretary of State's website, the APMC has formed as an Independent Expenditure committee, filer id# 1400377. The activities of the committee are managed by CJ Associates in Roseville, California.

The person answering the phone at CJ Associates said she could not identify who is backing the expenditure committee but would pass along an inquiry. According to the APMC's most recent financial disclosure for the period ending June 30, 2018 they had $4,003 in cash on hand and had spent $10,924 during the same period.

Ly is being challenged by Tracie Stafford and Elk Grove Vice Mayor Darren Suen. By law, independent expenditure committees cannot coordinate campaign activities with candidates.

In the posting today, the group posted court documents from 2009 when Ly and his wife were sued by creditors.
