On Wednesday, October 9, proposed by-district voting maps were released during the Elk Grove city council meeting.
The news
maps were drawn by National Demographics Corporation after the city council was
compelled under threat of a lawsuit for their prolonged practice of violating civil
and voter rights with their discriminatory at-large elections. Even though
the city will change to by-district voting, our guest Kathy Engle has expressed
concerns with the process and the methods
of National Demographics Corporation in how the proposed maps were drawn.
