Elk Grove News Podcast - Defendant in Elk Grove's District56 construction lawsuit reacts to city's statement

On Friday, October 11, the City of Elk Grove issued a statement regarding litigation over construction delays and cost overruns on the recently open District56 aquatics center. Given the reluctance of governmental bodies to comment on pending litigation, issuing the statement was an unusual development.

In this edition, we have another conversation with Brian Erickson who as co-owner of Big B Construction is one of the defendants in the lawsuit.

For listeners' reference, we have included two images. One is of the original plans for the sidewalks (above) and the image below shows the redesigned grid-style sidewalk. Click on either image to enlarge.

Use of the media during litigation to plead one's case only seems to muddy the water and makes me wonder what the objective is? Last time I watched Perry Mason, a judge is the one who hears cases.

The City issuing press releases just seems to be an attempt to clear the optics for political cover, and the defendants must be posturing for a settlement out of court. I'm concerned about the City spending more good money chasing bad money on the Swimmin' Hole and now 'The Wedding Venue'.

Too bad the little swimmers packed the City Council Chambers with their registered-to-vote parents the night the City Council decided to leap off the high dive for this project. Belly flop and all, we all could have had a community theater in operation and brought a little culture to this generic city.
