UPDATED 6:30 p.m. - Police find deceased person outdoors near Elk Grove-Florin, Bond roads in Elk Grove

The decedent has been identified as a homeless individual and the Elk Grove Police said it is not viewed as a suspicious death, however it remains under investigation. The Sacramento Coroner's office will release the identification pending family notification.
In a brief social media notification this afternoon, Elk Grove Police say a deceased person was found outdoors in Elk Grove
The police report said the following:
"Officers responded to a call for service regarding a welfare check of a person who was lying under a pile of sleeping bags in the greenbelt area on Bond Road, just west of Elk Grove Florin Road. Officers arrived and determined the person was deceased.
An investigation is underway at this time. We will update you when we have additional information."
