Convicted molester who was extradited from Mexico sentenced to 275 years to life for assaulting five children

A man convicted on eight counts of molesting five children was sentenced after his December 17, 2019 conviction.

In a ruling issued on Friday, February 21 by Sacramento Superior Court Judge Steven Gevercer, Jose Placencia Iniguez was sentenced 275 years to life in state prison. In the jury trial, Iniguez was found guilty of eight counts of committing a lewd act on a child under the age of 14, five counts of committing a lewd act on a child under the age of 14 by force, duress, menace, or fear and one count of committing a lewd act on a child 14 or 15 years old. The jury also found Iniguez guilty of committing the offenses against more than one victim.

Iniguez sexually assaulted two female family members when they were between the ages of 6 and 14 years old, and the juvenile victims disclosed the abuse to each other and their family in 2015. In 2017, three additional female family members said Iniguez had sexually assaulted them when they were between the ages of 7 and 12 years old.

During the investigation, Iniguez fled to Mexico, where he was subsequently arrested and extradited to the United States to face charges.
