Citizens give scathing Facebook rebuke to Bee editorial, harassment allegations controversy surrounding Elk Grove mayor

In yet another wrinkle in the ongoing controversy surrounding Elk Grove Mayor Steve Ly, two citizens took to social media in a lengthy presentation yesterday following a Sacramento Bee editorial.

The two-hour-plus Facebook Zoom video was hosted by David Phonmavong and Dr. Firdos Sheikh M.D. The discussion was wide-ranging but took primary aim at Elk Grove Unified School District Trustee Bobbie Singh-Allen.

During their discussion, Phonamavong and Sheikh made many unflattering characterizations about Singh-Allen. Their conversation focused on Singh-Allen, who is challenging Elk Grove Mayor Steve Ly in this November's election.

The video was produced yesterday hours after the Sacramento Bee published an editorial suggesting Ly not run for reelection. Ly has been besieged by the controversy that alleges he and associates have harassed and threatened Singh-Allen and other women elected officials in Elk Grove, including EGUSD Trustee Nancy Chaires-Espinoza and Cosumnes Community Service District Director Jaclyn Moreno.

Phonamavong and Sheikh pointedly criticized the Sacramento Bee editorial for what they characterized as bias. The also took aim at other media outlets, including Elk Grove News, suggesting that an orchestrated effort by the Singh-Allen campaign is negatively portraying Ly.

Along with addressing Singh-Allen and local media, they also expressed concerns over several topics and individuals. Among those were recent surveys conducted about the mayoral race that neither campaign has said they have commissioned to vacancy appointments to the Elk Grove City Council and Elk Grove Unified School District.

The video can be viewed here. As of this posting, the video has over 1,000 views.

Not to "shoot the messenger, but accordng to the internet, Dr. Firdos Sheikh has been barred from practicing medicine based on the following infractons:

Unprofessional Conduct
Violation Of Drug Statutes
Charged With A Felony
Repeated Negligent Acts
Excessive Treatment or Prescribing
Gross Negligence
Prescribing Without Medical Exam

In addition, she has been indicted by a federal grand jury for hiding two non-citizens on her property and forcing them into labor for nearly five years, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

I'm not one for kicking people when they are down, but if, and this is a big if, Steve Ly has directly or indirectly chosen these people to help defend him, as Gomer would say, "Shame, Shame, Shame!

That's right Randy. And if I were a poor candidate who has had Steve Ly's endorsement bestowed upon them, I'd be hot-footing it like Colonel Tom Parker's Dancing Chickens about now!

Who is David Phonmavong and Firdos Sheikh?? Two people trying to jump on the bandwagon for their 2 minutes of fame. This is a soap opera on steroids. Move on.

Enough of the negative campaigning. It is my belief that candidates do better at the ballot box with a positive campaign than they will if they continuously perforate their own campaigns with their opponents flaws. Maybe you candidates are not aware, but we're fighting for our lives with the COVID, the air is filled with smoke, many are having financial problems, kids are being schooled at home & the list goes on and on. Candidates...get a grip and tell me what you can do to make our lives better in EG, enough of the attacks!
