CCSD Director Rod Brewer files candidacy for Elk Grove City Council District 2

Although he has informally started campaign activities, yesterday Cosumnes Community Services District Director Rod Brewer has filed paperwork with the Elk Grove City Clerk's office declaring his candidacy for the Elk Grove City Council.

Brewer, who has served on the CCSD Board of Directors since 2010, is seeking a seat as the District 2 representative. District 2 has been represented since 2006 by Pat Hume, who has declared his candidacy for the District 5 seat on the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors.

Unlike other candidates who run mid-term before seeking higher offices, Brewer's current term on the CCSD ends in 2022.  Although there are rumors of other candidates interested in the vacancy created by Hume's Board of Supervisor candidacy, Brewer is currently the only declared candidate.

In 2022, along with District 2, the Elk Grove City Council's District 4 seat will be on the ballot. District 4 is represented by Stephanie Nguyen, who has expressed interest in running for the California Assembly District 9 seat should current representative Jim Cooper formally declare his candidacy for the Sacramento County Sheriff, which will also be on the 2022 ballot.
