Warming center in Elk Grove scheduled to start operations on December 1

With the cold winter months quickly approaching, the City of Elk Grove has announced the opening of warming centers to accommodate the city's growing population of unsheltered people.

Starting December 1, the services will operate at different locations throughout the city on an overnight as-needed basis for individuals needing shelter or lacking home heating. The centers will operate until April 30, 2022.

The centers, which are being operated by Elk Grove HART, will open when overnight weather conditions present dangers. The facility will be open to individuals ages 18 and over.
