Elk Grove City Council homeless task force gives first report



At the end of the Wednesday night Elk Grove City Council meeting, the city's homeless task force provided their first report on their activities. The task force headed by city council members Stephanie Nguyen and Pat Hume was formed last month to address homelessness in the community.

After listening to Mr. Hume's comments about the unhoused population in Elk Grove, and in the context of other comments he's made over the years, there's a note of condescension in his delivery.

Not unlike a former Elk Grove City Council member who wanted EGPD to "round up the homeless and drive them to the city of Sacramento," I also believe Hume's comments show a complete lack of compassion.

I bet Hume would never put on the worn shoes of a homeless man let alone walk a mile in them.
