Among the numerous races on the June primary ballot for open seats, law enforcement political associations offer support for two Elk Grove-based candidates, Elk Grove City Council Members Republican Pat Hume and Democrat Stephanie Nguyen.

According to recent financial disclosures, the Sacramento County Deputy Sheriffs Association Political Action Committee, Hume, and Nguyen are among their favorite beneficiaries. Hume is running for the District 5 seat on the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors, and Nguyen is battling for the 10th District seat of the California State Assembly.

The association's recent California Form 460 reports Nguyen has received $9,800 while Hume has received $2,950. Nguyen is one of four candidates in the 10th Assembly District race, and Hume is one of four in the District 5 supervisorial contest.

The deputy sheriff's association also purchased a billboard for Hume valued at $30,465 and print advertising worth $1,318. The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors approves budgets for the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.

Nguyen and Hume have also received contributions of $4,900 and $2,700, respectively, from the Sacramento County Police Officers Association Political Activity Fund.
