Hume adds significant endorsement in District 5 Sacramento County Board of Supervisors race

In the election to replace long-serving Sacramento County Supervisor Don Nottoli, one of the candidates announced a significant endorsement today in the closely watched race.

In a press release issued this morning, Republican Elk Grove City Councilmember Pat Hume announced Democrat Nottoil endorsed his candidacy. When Notolli leaves office later this year, he will have served 28 years.

"Pat Hume has earned my endorsement through his effective leadership and years of service to the community," Nottoli said in the statement. "I'm confident Pat will serve the people of District 5 with the dedication and representation they expect and deserve."

Notolli's announcement comes in what is expected to be a competitive race between Hume and Democrat Cosumnes Community Service District Director Jaclyn Moreno. In the June primary Hume came in first place ahead of Moreno and two other candidates.

An original Elk Grove Planning Commissioner upon Elk Grove's 2000 incorporation, Hume was elected to the Elk Grove City Council in 2006. He will have been the longest-serving council member when he leaves office later this year.

"I'm deeply honored by Don's confidence and support," Hume said in the announcement. "Those are big shoes to fill, but I will work every day to honor his legacy and stand for the people and communities he has so ably represented all these years."
