Rod Brewer, Sergio Robles take oath of office for Elk Grove City Council

Rod Brewer takes his oath of office as the District 2 representative on the Elk Grove City Council.|

After the certification of election results and before a standing-room-only audience, Elk Grove City Council's two newly elected city council members took their oath of office this evening during the regular city council meeting.

Taking their oath of office for four-year terms were District 2 representative Rod Brewer and Sergio Robles for District 4. Also taking their oath of office was Elk Grove Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen, who won her second two-year term.

Brewer won his seat in a three-candidate race. Before his election to the city council, Brewer was an elected Director on the Cosumnes Community Services District Board and had served for the last 12 years.

Robles, who won his seat in a two-candidate race, was an Elk Grove Planning Commissioner appointed in 2020 by former Elk Grove Mayor Steve Ly.

The District 2 seat was held by Pat Hume, who was elected this year to the District 5 seat of the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors. Hume served for 16 years on the city council, which is the longest of any council member in the city's 22-year history.

Nguyen has served on the city council since her 2017 appointment and was elected to a four-year term in 2018. This year, Nguyen successfully ran for the California Assembly District 10 seat.

Just like the legendary Mayor Daley of Chicago, our Mayor BSA is successfully building a political machine in Elk Grove. Unlike Trump's endorsements that largely failed, BSA proudly proclaimed on her Facebook page after the election that all of her endorsements were successful. BSA has made it clear that her coattails are free for the riding, but once you do, she owns you!

No, last night was not about the newly elected candidates--it was about our Mayor Daley adding new parts to her machine.

No mention of our former Mayor trying to get his people in office. If he would have been successful we would have gotten a different Elk Grove ran by a different type of political machine. Who would of been for social justice, not favorable towards our LE. So to think our current Mayor has a hold on other council members let’s not forget our former Mayor and who he was aligned with. We have a better Elk Grove with our current Mayor an Council.

The most charitable way to describe Ms. Singh-Allen's mayoral tenure so far is child-like.

Just like a child. Ms. Singh-Allen is more interested with all the goodies like a zoo or attending elitist functions. But when it comes to doing her chores or homework, in this case things like dealing with traffic in a meaningful way or the city's expanding homeless community. Instead Madame Mayor will abdicate any semblance of responsibility and do everything to avoid the hard work that comes with true leadership.

She has an opportunity to correct her course, role up her sleeves, and if she wants work on substantive issues. Unfortunately, her track record suggests she'll try moving on to the next office and leave the chores for other to perform.

Just like a child, Ms. Singh-Allen is more interested in all the goodies like a zoo or attending elitist functions. But when it comes to doing her chores or homework, in this case, things like dealing with traffic in a meaningful way or the city's expanding homeless community, she actively avoids them. Instead, Madame Mayor will abdicate any semblance of responsibility and do everything to avoid the hard work that comes with true leadership.

She can correct her course, roll up her sleeves, and, if she wants, work on substantive issues. But, unfortunately, history and her recent actions suggests she'll try moving on to the next office and leave the chores for others to perform.

As for Mr. Brewer and Mr. Robles, we will learn post haste if they have testicular fortitude or just Ms. Singh-Allen's punks.
