From time to time, Elk Grove News will post press releases from the Elk Grove Police Dept. with photos of suspects they are pursuing.
In almost all cases, the photos are usually mug shots and they look like mug shots. Not so in the case of Arika Shaw.
Shaw's photo was posted a couple days ago with the other suspect, whose photo did look like a mug shot, in connection with a suspected shooting.
Shaw's photo, who is all of 22, stands out from others that have been posted on this news site. First of all, her photo does look like a mug shot.
In the photo (see below), Shaw is flashing a beaming smile with what appears to be a mouthful of braces. The shot may have been cropped from another photo.
The second thing that is interesting is the number of people who are "Googling" her name from around the country and being directed to this site. In my estimation, these are probably friends and family looking for information on her.
Beyond that, it is hard say anything else other than she does not at least from the appearance in her photo appear to be anything except the girl next door.

The girl next door? Looks can be deceiving. Arika had to have been involved some how. How else would her boy know where to go shoot up someone's place? I'm sure because of "innocent looking, girl next door. Don't be fooled by the picture, it was taken of Arika Shaw as school picture, so of course she is smiling with her braces. Update her braces have been removed.
We don't know anything about this girl. It's possible she could have tipped him off but how does anyone know if he didn't find out where this guy was on his own. He is a grown man and in Sacramento it is not hard to find someone. Don't make judgments on people until you know the situation. If she is guilty she will be punished one way or the other.

As someone who knows her personally she is the girl next door she is loving and she smiles like that 24/7 all day everyday... braces /no braces.. N that is not a school pic..don't comment if u don't know nethng about her or the situation.

Well everyone who has a negative comment, I hope you don't live in a glass house. She is a sweet kind person who got caught up in something she knew nothing about. I've known her all her life, and I'm sure all those with the negative comments probably still have similac on their breath. Anyone with 2 grains of sense would know not everything is what it seems. So if you can't send a positive vibe and can't leave your name.......be quiet.
I have known this girl since she was 8 years old. I was around her about 5-6 days a week. She is a wonderful well raised young woman. She works, is a cheer and dance coach, and school. She is very family oriented. I know for a fact she had no knowledge of this crime. She has been pulled into something that she had nothing to do with. She is wrongfully being held by the police. People need to think before they judge. How would you feel going to the jail top visit your 4.0 student being accused of something they knew nothing about? It’s just wrong.
ummm i definitely don't appreciate you people talking about Arika when you have no idea what type of person she really is. first of all, she would never have willingly gotten caught up in this type of situation and secondly, whoever said "update braces have been removed" obviously knows her as well and how dare you have the nerve to smile in someone's face but talk about them on the internet. SCUM!
