Juveniles, youth involved in several incidents

Perhaps it was the heat or the soaring price of gas. Whatever the reason, the Elk Grove Police Dept. were busy last weekend, particularly when it came to juvenile and youth criminal activity.

On Friday afternoon responded to a burglary in progress in the 2900 block of West Pintail Way. Police arrested a 17 year old male juvenile.

Friday evening police responded to a fight that broke out at a youth dance at the Wackford Center on Bruceville Rd. Police arrested a 13 year old male juvenile who struck an officer twice with a closed fist as police attempted to break-up a large fight.

Saturday night saw a shooting at a party on the 8800 block of Benson Place. Michael Ward, 18, was shot in the upper arm after several uninvited guest were refused entrance to the party.

Ward was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment. The suspect(s) fled the scene in multiple vehicles.

In addition to these, several others were arrested for a variety of suspected crimes including public intoxication, fighting, outstanding warrants, domestic violence and drunk driving.
