Consumnes Fire investigators make arson arrest

Investigators with the Consumnes CSD Fire Dept. have arrested a suspect in connection with an arson fire that caused heavy damage to an Elk Grove home Monday night.

there were no injuries caused by the blaze in a single-family home in the 5300 block of Jade Creek Way in Elk Grove. Damage was placed initially at about $150,000.

Willie Jean Bethea, 52, who was a resident of the home, was arrested by the Consumnes Fire Dept. investigators on arson charges in connection with the fire.

Units from the Consumnes Fire Dept. were dispatched about 6:15 p.m. to the call. The home was well involved in fire when firefighters arrived but they were able to gain control of the blaze withing about 20 minutes.

The Consumnes Fire Dept. was aided by units from the Sacramento Fire Dept. and the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District. No firefighters were injured fighting the fire.
