How many times have you heard about somebody getting something of value ripped-off and never seeing the goods recovered much less the crook being caught?
Most of the time the victim files a report with the cops and nothing else happens. Every now and then though, the good guys win one.
Take the case of Maynard Delacruz and his golf clubs.
After having his set stolen from the Cordova Golf Course, Delacruz decided to initiate his own investigation. He went looking for his clubs at the the digital pawnshop/marketplace where goods can easily be fenced - Craigslist.
Delacruz quickly located a description of his clubs being offered for sale and contacted the "seller." With the assistance of Elk Grove police, he arranged to meet the seller at Emerald Lakes Golf Course.
Once at the course, Delacruz met with the suspect, 27 year old Byran Sughrue and quickly identified his clubs. Police arrested Sughrue without incident.
Looks like Sughrue took one to many mulligans!
