Elk Grove's answer to Marie Antoinette 'So Mo Money' Scherman' says the bus stop is across the street!

During last Wednesday's city council meeting, city council candidate Katerine Maestas suggested that since the city of Elk Grove was giving away millions of taxpayers dollars to real estate developer Brown & Reynolds for the construction of a new hotel, perhaps they ought to consider a living wage at the facility.

Mayor Gary Davis gave lip service to the suggestion then quickly dismissed it. As a benefactor of major cash contributions from labor unions, Davis' dismissal of improving the lives of working people who he is supposed to represent via his labor contributors is a major disappointment and should be held to account.

Of course Davis could try to brush off the criticism and say that he is not beholden to any special interest. Perhaps, but we would sure like to see him give such short shrift to his real estate developer cronies.

At least Mike Leary, who sold his soul to Browns & Reynolds for $6,000, kept his pie-hole closed and quickly tried to get a vote on the matter.

The most troubling and at the same time most amusing response came from council member Sophia 'So Mo Money' Scherman.

Listen to the audio clip of her dismissal of a living wage while and at the same time painting a rosy picture of one the 'benefits' for workers at this taxpayer-funded hotel.

We wonder if she is counting on E-Tran running properly? In any case, is this who we want representing Elk Grove for another four years?
