Elk Grove City Council member raises $39k

Elk Grove City council member Gary Davis raised $39,099 in the second half of 2008 according to financial disclosure forms filed with the Elk Grove city clerk's office.

Davis' largest contributors were:

  • Smog 'N Go, LLC, Elk Grove $5,250
  • Senior Living, LLC, Roseville, Ca., $3,500
  • Sacramento Association of Realtors, $2,500
  • Craig Nagler, Granite Capitol, Granite Bay, Ca., $2,500
  • William Niemi, Granite Bay, Ca., $2,500
  • Bryan Wilson, Quality Lending, El Dorado Hills, Ca., $2,500
  • MV Transport, Elk Horn, Ia., $1,500

    Other contributors of interest include:

  • Laborers Local 185, Sacramento, Ca., $1,000
  • Sacramento Building Trades Council, $1,000
  • Reynolds & Brown, Concord, Ca., $250

Interestingly, Davis who is active in the Democratic Party, accepted $250 from Reynolds & Brown, the developer of new hotel in Elk Grove that is receiving a controversial multi-million dollar tax incentive from the city. When the project was approved last summer, the city council did not seriously consider a request for inserting a living-wage provisions for employees of the hotel.

As for expenditures, Davis' largest was $17,998 to Capitol Campaigns for a city-wide mailer promoting a picnic he hosted and $2,000 to the Democratic Party of Sacramento, .

Davis, who has not formally announced his candidacy for 2010, has $52,083 in his coffers as of December 31, 2008.
