Press release from Elk Grove Community Connection
ELK GROVE, CA – Elk Grove Mayor Patrick Hume will host and facilitate a summit meeting focusing on the city’s sphere of influence application (SOI). The summit, sponsored by the Elk Grove Community Connection (EGCC), will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at the Elk Grove City Hall, Council Chambers, 8400 Laguna Palms Way, Elk Grove, CA, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
"This summit will be an excellent opportunity to hear from City and County representatives on how we have been working cooperatively toward the long term planning of the South County area. There will also be a presentation from LAFCO on the status of the SOI application and next steps. I hope you can join us," states Hume.
It is EGCC’s desire to get all the stakeholders in the same room so that we can all hear together where we stand in the process, where the city and county are in relation to concerns regarding open space and floodplain issues as well as an update on the Habitat Conservation Plan in relation to the SOI.
The summit will begin with a buffet “meet ‘n greet” reception. As stated, the agenda includes a presentation by Peter Brundage, Executive Director of the Sacramento Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCo). Special guest will be County of Sacramento Supervisor Don Nottoli along with executive staff from both the City of Elk Grove and the County of Sacramento .
The program will also include a question and answer period ending with a surprise raffle. In the spirit of community, donations will be accepted for the Elk Grove Community Network Assistance (EGCAN).
