The Baltimore Orioles called up Elk Grove native David Hernandez tonight to make his major league debut. Hernandez will be the starting pitcher when the Orioles face the Toronto Blue Jays' on Thursday night.

A 2003 graduate of Elk Grove High, Hernandez was pitching for the Triple-A Norfolk Tides with a 3-1 record and an ERA of 2.91. Koji Uehara was the scheduled pitcher but will miss his start because of injuries.
