Elk Grove Police Investigate Suspicious Death

On Sunday, June 14, 2009 at 12:19 a.m., the Elk Grove Police Department responded to the 8600 block of Heritage Hill Dr. regarding a call of an unresponsive person lying on the front lawn of a residence.

Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive 14-year-old male juvenile. The victim has been identified as Ronald "Tre" Kenoly, a studetn at Smedberge Middle School.

Medical personnel were also on scene and transported the teenager to a local area hospital were he later died.

Based on witness statements, detectives believe that Kenoly had left a nearby party and was walking home when he was confronted by two unidentified individuals.

According to witnesses, there was some type of physical altercation between the victim and the two assailants. As a result of the altercation, Kenoly fell onto the front lawn of a residence and the assailants fled the area on foot.

The Sacramento County Coroner's Office will be performing an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Detectives believe that there were several witnesses to the physical altercation and are seeking assistance from the community.
