For the first six months of 2009, Elk Grove Council member Sophia Scherman did not raise any money. Consequently we looked at the most recent six month period of fund raising; July 1 through December 31, 2009.
During this period Scherman raised $37,734 in cash and another $10,594 in non monetary contributions.

Sophia served a major purpose in the last campaign. She kept that crazy Maestas from having a chance.

Why go after Maestas- she's an ethical and honorable person.
Maestas ethical and honorable? She lied all during the campaign. She slandered scherman even though you can't go after her for it since Scherman is an elected official. plus she is just creppy.

Sophia Scherman and Jim Cooper are classic reasons why we need term limits in Elk Grove. They had their chance, now move over.
Personally I don't think Cooper wins Sheriff with all his ethical problems.
Hopefully we get some talent in the next election cycle and beyond.

What's "wrong" with Scherman is the same thing that's wrong Cooper, with Davis, Detrick, and ESPECIALLY Hume. There is WAY too much developer money flying around in Elk Grove and as a result Elk Grove has the best government money can buy, literally. Political power is highly seductive, once you have it you don't want to give it up. Opening bid for a seat on the Elk Grove City Council is $100,000 in hand before the campaign begins, otherwise you are wasting your time.
The only way you are gonna get $100,000 is from developers and real estate spectulators. They don't give that money without some expectation of a "return" on their investment. That return comes in the form of votes that destroy Elk Grove's future so that the speculators can cash out today. Don't believe it? Look around you, it's everywhere you look in Elk Grove, the city with no future anymore because it sold it cheap. Kickbacks, side bets, plumb deals, it's all here folks and you don't need much money to get it. $100,000 spread across several campaigns is all it takes.
Oh, and that bit about "My vote isn't for sale!" no, it's not, it's already sold.
Don't be fools, don't vote for incumbents in Elk Grove, even one term incumbents. If you want to make Elk Grove a liveable place again use your vote to "term limit" the Elk Grove City Council to one term and you are OUT!!!!!!
All true. Sponsors expect payback. What? You think it's free money? NO way.
I thought the opening bid was $120,000. Without looking back I think that was the winning number for S. Detrick.
