According to Elk Grove Police, officers were dispatched to the 9700 block of Helenite Court at 1:20 PM in response to an in-progress burglary. The occupant of the house had called and reported that a male suspect had kicked in a front door and began ransacking the residence.
The occupant hid in a closet and called 911. Responding officers saw a female suspect driving a getaway car while the male suspect fled through the rear of the house.
Officers were able to locate and arrest the male suspect who was hiding in bushes a short distance away. Officers also located the getaway vehicle and initiated an enforcement stop.
A search of the revealed stolen property from the Helenite residence as well as stolen property for an earlier residential burglary on the 9400 block of Rhone Valley Way. Police estimate that burglary happened an hour earlier.
The suspects, 43-year old Kevin Morgan and 39-year old Jodi Northcutt, both of Modesto, were arrested and transferred to the county jail.

Happy to see that Elk Grove Police have time to respond to "Crimes in Progress"!!! As a Wilton Resident I was concerned over several reports of marked Elk Grove "Police Vehicles" in Wilton, which is well outside of the City Limits. More surprisingly was a couple of reports that Elk Grove Police were seen as they had vehicles pulled over in Wilton....Thanks for your efforts at reducing crime in Wilton----and thanks to the residents of Elk Grove for paying the bill for protecting the Community of Wilton!!!!!
Personally, as a Wilton resident, I feel highly offended that EG police come across the river unless they are in direct pursuit, and how often does that happen? We Are Not Elk Grove, quit trying to take us over. If you need your ticket revenue boosted, get it from your jurisdiction in Elk Grove and stay out of Wilton!
We don't do anonymous on this side of the river.
