Will add extra patrols to shopping areas

Starting Friday, November 27th and through Thursday, December 24th, the Elk Grove Police Department will be increasing the number of officers on patrol in local shopping centers. The increased police presence will allow officers to focus on any suspicious activity occurring in and around shopping centers, which historically have experienced a seasonal increase in criminal activity.

Police will patrol all of the local shopping areas throughout Elk Grove as part of a proactive approach designed to reduce crime, increase visibility and educate the community on how to be more careful, prepared and aware during the holiday shopping season. These patrols will be conducted by officers in marked patrol vehicles, unmarked vehicles and on foot.

Police plug purchase program

“The Elk Grove Police Department wants the community to enjoy their shopping experience in the city,” said Bob Risedorph, Captain of the Field Services Division. “As part of the Shop Local Program, residents are encouraged to spend their tax dollars in the city by shopping in town and supporting local businesses.”
