Elk Grove Police Nab Hit-and-Run Driver

Elk Grove Police apprehended a hit run driver yesterday afternoon following an accident on Laguna Boulevard.

According to police reports, 19-year old Luke Sanderson of Elk Grove was operating a vehicle that was involved in a hit-and-run collision on Laguna Boulevard and Laguna Park Drive. Sanderson allegedly fled the scene following the collision.

Responding officers located Sanderson fleeing the accident scene and initiated an enforcement stop. Upon contact the suspect showed signs of impairment and failed a field sobriety test. Sanderson was arrested and transferred to the county jail.

Police also report the arrest of a 16-year old male who was allegedly seen entering a garage on the 9300 block of Newington Way and stealing a scooter. Responding officers located the juvenile suspect a short distance away. The suspect was taken into custody and transferred to juvenile hall.
