With the help of a K-9 officer, Elk Grove Police helped capture a would-be car burglar early Wednesday morning.

According to police reports, officer responded to a vehicle burglary that had just occurred when they located a suspicious vehicle located in the area. When the officers attempted to conduct a vehicle stop, 22-year old Moises Duran of Sacramento failed to yield and led the officers on a short pursuit.

After the vehicle stop, Duran and another occupant of the vehicle fled the area on foot. After a search of the area, officers deployed a K-9, officers were able to locate the suspect hiding in some bushes.

Duran reportedly refused to comply with the officers and refused to come out of the bushes and show his hands. The K-9 was deployed and successfully took the suspect into custody.

Duran was arrested and treated at a local hospital for injuries prior to being transferred to the county jail.
